President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and many VIP participants will be attending this great ceremony like; Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Presidential Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, TRNC President Mustafa Akinci, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Pakistan Punjab State Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic, First Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Dimitri Kumsisihvil.
The World's Largest, Longest and Highest Suspension Bridge
Istanbul The 3.rd bridge is one of the biggest investment in Istanbul in 2016. It is one of the world’s highest and longest suspended bridges with the railway line. The width of the bridge is 59 meters, the height of the tallest bridge’s mast is 320 meters, and the length of the rail line is 1408 meters. The bridge, which is the groundbreaking ceremony held 29 May 2013, is opening to traffic on 26 August 2016.
This bridge carries a great feature for Turkey and the world engineering history. 8-lane highway and 2-lane railway will pass on the same level over the bridge. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which is the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, was completed in 39 months.
The bridge, which is built under the North Marmara Motorway Project, will be the title of the world's largest bridge. The investment cost of the bridge is $ 3 billion. It will be a total of 10 transport strip on the 148-kilometer-long bridge. The bridge will be the first in the world due to the level of the rail switch system.
Crossing between Asia and Europe is Easier for Transit Travellers
Easing the burden of transit traffic, the reduction of air pollution from traffic, and reduction of environmental problems in Istanbul is expected with this bridge. Totally 1 billion 785 million dollars (Approximately 1 billion 450 million dollars of energy and 335 million dollars including the loss of labour) in economic losses will be prevented with this bridge.
Crossing from Asia to Europe will be free for the first week on this bridge eagerly awaited by Istanbul which is connecting the two sides together for the third time.
Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge crossing price was determined as 3 Dollars (+VAT). These fees will be valid until January 2, 2017. The charge of bridge connecting roads will be per kilometer 8 cents (24 kuruş).
The passage of heavy vehicles and transit travellers Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge will take over instead of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge with the entry into service of the bridge.
