Turkey's Rising New Mega Projects
Turkey is developing under the leadership of the government since 2002. Turkey has a goal to be one of the top performing economies in the world with 2023 vision plan. Therefore, Turkey continues to grow with mega-projects. Exceeding 100 billion dollars in total worth, the highways, bridges, airports, power plants and other mega projects remain to draw the attention of the world.

International Third Airport
Istanbul International Third Airport is located in Arnavutköy district on the European side of Istanbul. The airport is built on 76.5 km² land area. The airport will be the largest airport in the world, with a 150 million passenger annual capacity. The construction of airport started in 2014 and the first part is ready to serve in February 2018. Marmaray represents the first physical rail link between Europe and Asia. The rail link is 76.3 km. Marmaray Project is one of the biggest projects of the Turkish Ministry of Transportation. The total cost is around 5 billion dollars.
The Turkish State Railways started building high-speed railways in 2003. The first line was inaugurated on 13 March 2009 between Ankara and Eskişehir. International Istanbul Finance Center
The project will be built on 261.537 m² construction area. International Finance Center Project consists of 2 huge towers. The architecture of the towers was inspired by the Ottomans. Istanbul Finance Center will also host the head offices of the country’s governing bodies of financial markets, state-owned banks, and related businesses. This project is the heart of Istanbul. The total cost is around 5 billion dollars.
This project is known as ‘Crazy Project’ by the Turkey President. Channel Istanbul is an artificial sea-level waterway that is built parallel to the Bosphorus and is connect the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara. The main purpose of the project is to reduce the sea traffic through the Bosphorus and minimize the risks and dangers. Channel Istanbul will have a length of 45–50 km with a depth of 25 m. Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP)
The main aim of the TANAP Project is to carry natural gas produced from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz-2 gas field. 19km of the line will be passing under the Sea of Marmara, the main pipeline within Turkey will reach a total of 1850 km. The total cost is around 10 billion dollars.
